Monastère Royal de Brou *** - Let yourself be tackled by the unique history of this masterpiece of flamboyant Gothic unique in France. The Royal Monastery of Brou was built by order of Margaret of Austria, widow at 24 years old of Philibert Le Beau (Le Beau = the handsome) (1480-1504), Duke of Savoy. In the 16th century Margaret of Austria decided to build this royal Monastery to house three magnificent tombs: that of Philibert le Beau, that of her mother, and her own, to the glory of a dynasty of which she was already the sole representative.

The Royal Monastery of Brou is made up of monastic buildings, a church and three cloisters. In addition to the three tombs, it stands out for its choir stalls, its stained glass windows and its jubilee. The whole is a magnificent fusion of the glow of Gothic art and the innovations that have come from resurgent Italy.
