The Romantic Road running from the Main to the Alps, is arguably the most famous tourist route and popular in Germany. Since 1950 the Americans were their first visitors. In them was imprinted the concept of Romantic Road. As occupation troops began to vacation with your family for these regions.

 

This route run in reverse of the German tourism official. Starts in the south in Füssen, runs north to Würzburg and then turns south through Nürnberg and München until Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is ideal for travelers from countries to the south of Germany.

Martinskirche - Church of St. Martin - Zangmeisterstrasse 13, is a Gothic-style building with a presbytery remodeled in the fifteenth century. The choir stalls carved in 1507, shows effigies of prophets, of sibyls and benefactors.

 

Altstadt (city center) - Marktplatz - Old houses, as the House of the Seven Gables. The Marktplatz is bounded by the Steuerhaus, and City Hall (1589), remodeled in rococo style in 1765. The House of the Hospitalers of San Antonio worth a visit. Gothic building and surrounded by arcaded courtyard house a museum.

 

Kreuzherrenkirche - Hallhof - Crucified Christ's church has a bell tower of 1617, topped by a very refined octagon.

Ottobeuren Abbey ** - The abbey buildings were built between 1711 and 1731.

In the palace of the prelature, after imposing staircase, we find sumptuous rooms like the imperial room, where the ceiling fresco depicts the coronation of Charlemagne. Also noteworthy is the magnificent library and theater.

We could only see the church, which itself already worth, but the staircase and the sumptuous rooms could not be visited.

47.5678230, 10.6940690 - Füssen * - Füssen city is world famous for its proximity to the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau and Tegelberg peak 1870 m that can be accessed with Cableway. It has an interesting old town with sites like Hohes late Gothic Palace, the remains of the fortified wall and its towers, baroque monastery of Sankt Mang and medieval gabled houses.
The parish church was rebuilt between 1701 and 1717 by architect Johann-Jakob Herkomer, who was also the plasterer and painter, so that the building is of great homogeneity. The chapel of Santa Ana features a stunning Danse Macabre.
The center and around Füssen, were the scene of the famous film The Great Escape.

Schloss Hohenschwangau * - In 1832 - 1836 Crown Prince Maximilian of Bavaria built the castle in the Gothic style, on the ruins of an old castle. King Ludwig II spent his youth and was his summer residence until his death in 1886.
The decor is a bit excessive, with the repeated motif of the swan, but the beautiful furniture Bidermeier style is admirable. Audio guide in eleven languages​​, in both castles.

 

Schloss Neuschwanstein *** - This castle was built between 1869 and unfinished in 1886 by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, called "Mad King" for his eccentricities, in the style of a medieval castle. Neuschwanstein Castle is the setting and atmosphere like a fairy tale. Highlights include the third and fourth floors, where there is a false grotto with a winter garden, the throne room unfinished and the Choir . Some say it has been shown for Disneyland Castle
